Dining with the birds at Hornbill Restaurant & Cafe @ KL Bird Park
Who says park food is always bad in taste? Those who did obviously haven't been to the Hornbill Restaurant & Cafe. There's also more than meets the eye in this Restaurant. I would tell you why
The restaurant is just next to the entrance to the KL Bird Park which was recently awarded the Platinum Award at the KL Mayor's Tourism Award 2017.
It was built into the bird park itself which features the World's Largest Free Flight Walk in Aviary.
Guests gets to choose the air conditioned dining area
Or the open air dining experience with the birds. No prize for guessing which one I would choose =)
In the balcony or open air(inside the bird park) you get to dine up close and personal with the birds
No the birds are very friendly and they don't peck you.. Unless you look like food to them then good luck
The Hornbill is always a pleasant sight. Well it's called the Hornbill Restaurant & Cafe right?
Life is not complete without at least a selfie with the majestic Hornbill right?
Oh did I mention there's no entrance ticket fee into the cafe?
Ok enough about the environment which I think is an experience to die for. Now lets get to the food and beverage part.
On top of coffees and teas, they do serve fresh fruit juices.
Light bites that they serve is perfect. Why? For example, this Fried Banana served with honey. Crispy on the outside so much so I call it the Eastern Wafer.
Then we have the Keropok Lekor, a local delicacy which is like fried fish cake but much better than those you could get outside. I am serious when I said this is better and a must try
Then there's my favourite satay. Marinated meat on skewers BBQed to perfection!
Juicy grilled Chicken Chop served with Black pepper sauce, sauteed veges and wedges. The wedges goes perfect when dipped into the Black Pepper sauce.
Fried Mee mamak style with a touch of lime.
Chicken Cordon Bleu, cheese, ham in breaded chicken dipped in Black Pepper sauce? Yummeh
Laksa Sarawak, rice noodle served with hearty coconut milky spicy soup and a touch of lime. Another must try
Nasi Dagang served with fish curry!!!
Then there's the Grilled Lamb Cutlet, juicy and tender grilled just nice served with black pepper sauce
Oriental fried rice where diners gets to choose between chicken, beef or vegetarian bits. Perfect to fill the tummy.
Seriously the food is perfect even for someone who is a huge critic for bad food so much so that I do not have any complains =)
Oh Yeah, I forgot desserts, Banana split. Somehow this brings back memories where I would always make my dad bring me out for banana splits whenever we go to parks when I am still young. I think it's time for me to bring him out here now =)
So with so much good food and such good environment, what are you waiting for?
How to get there? You could drive there(Parking is free) or Walk from KL Komuter station(15 minutes walk) or take the Heritage Park Tram from Dataran Merdeka
